Aftercare for electric blinds
Here are some aftercare tips for our electric blinds:
Keep your blind moving. Do open and close your blind at least every other day.
To clean the fabric, close the blind ¾ of the way and using a gentle brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner, or a feather duster, clean from above the blind and carefully remove any dust. The fabric can gently be moved around to clean in between the pleats. Whilst up there, open the blind fully and vacuum the green drive belt that sits within the side channels. Doing this regularly will stop dust and debris being carried in to the gearbox via the belt.
The aluminium parts can be cleaned with a glass cleaner on a sponge or rag material (never steel wool). This should not cause any damage to the powder coating. Avoid using chemical cleaning agents or sand products for cleaning. Despite being made of resistant material, the surface of the blinds can still be damaged by aggressive cleaning agents. Because of that, never use solvents, cleaning sands, cleaning pastes, organic thinners or strong alkaline cleaning detergents.
Cleaning of your new blind is advised at least twice a year – once at the end of winter and once at the end of summer as these are the seasons when the blinds tend to accumulate the most pollen and dust, especially if you tend to keep windows and doors open for the summer season.
In addition to regular cleaning, inspect the blinds several times per year, focusing on increased noise when opening or closing, uneven opening or closing, loose screws in the side channels, cord or guiding profile wear and tear. In case you do detect any of these defects, please don’t hesitate to contact us. A charge may be applicable for inspection and subsequent work necessary.
Battery operated blinds will need to be charged every now and again, even with the use of a solar panel. To do this, connect the charger provided to the blind in situ (the use of an extension lead may be needed) The light on the charger will change from red to green which should take around 6-8 hours.
